High School Teachers' Workshop at the University of Toronto Mississauga

MCS High School Teachers' Workshop

This workshop is being offered by the Mathematical and Computational Sciences Department at the University of Toronto Mississauga.

This year, we are sponsored by Google, as part of their CS4HS outreach program.

Please join us at our math, stats, and computer science workshop on Friday, August 26, 2016, at UTM! This is a one-day event where we will offer workshops, tutorials, and discussion of interest to math, stats, and CS teachers.

Plans this year include teaching high school math/stats topics through computation, step-by-step design of mobile games, and other topics (please share your ideas in the workshop registration!). We hope that all of the workshops are of interest whether you teach math, stats, or CS.

Please do interact with your peers, as well as graduate students and faculty who will be present, so that we can continue to build collaboration.

This year, we will be trying a two-track format, where two activities will be offered at various times so that you can choose the one of more interest. Also new is a larger focus on teacher-led demos/presentations (please let us know if you are interested in helping out with a session).

Here is a advertising poster that we encourage you to share with your colleagues!

Application

Please fill out our brief Application Form for the workshop. Registration closes on August 10. We will begin confirming participants at that time and will continue to accept participants until the workshop is full.

Parking and Location

Here is a UTM Campus Map.

We will be set up in the DH (Deerfield Hall) building, in rooms DH-2010 and DH-2020. It's a new building, so will not be on old campus maps. The easiest way to get to DH is to drive in off Outer Circle from Mississauga rd. and park in P7 or P6. Note that you can't park in P5 without a permit.

Note that if you are taking the shuttle bus from the downtown St George campus (Hart House), the bus dropoff at UTM is at the Instructional Building (IB). It's a 5-minute walk from IB to DH.
